In the spirit of Loretta Lynn even if she expresses herself
in a modern fashion, this is the kind of hearfelt singer/
songwriter stuff that’s been sorely missing from country
for a long time. Very personal stuff that has a wide
reach, Nygaard hits it out of the park with each trip to
the plate showing what a bunch of goodies she has up
her sleeve and in her trunk. Certainly hits for others if
not herself. Well done.

New radio interview podcast!
I had a great time chatting with Gary Holt and Bobbi Jean Bell on Equestrian Legacy Radio recently. We played three songs from the new album during the interview. You can listen to it here.
LC Media to take on "Lucky Girl" publicity
And so it begins... the release of "Lucky Girl" starts with getting it out to the press for reviews. It's exciting, and a bit nerve wracking waiting to see if the reviewers like it, but I got such great reviews on my last album that I am optimistic... and excited to hear what they think!
I've hired Lance Cowan of LC Media here in Nashville to help me get the word out. He has represented a lot of great artists in my genre, and he's going to be fun to work with I think. 4/11/19
The CDs are ready!!!
They are here! The CDs have arrived from the manufacturer and they look terrific! (I guess I'm not supposed to say that since I was the graphic artist but they really do look great) . Jayne Toohey's photos are so wonderful and I had so many of them I ended up doing a booklet. It made the CD cost go up of course but it was good to get the lyrics in the booklet. I am known a lot for my lyrics so it's nice to showcase them. You can see the photos on my photo page.
Claudia's producer nominated for a grammy!
Exciting news! Neilson Hubbard, who is producing my new CD, has just been nomnated for a grammy for Folk Album of the year for his production on an album with Mary Gauthier called "Rifles and Rosary Beads". The album was also nominated for Americana album of the year by the Americana Music Association.
"Lucky Girl" wins songwriting competition!
I'm so proud! I entered the title cut of my new CD "Lucky Girl" in the songwriting competition at the Tumbleweed Music Festival and I won!!!
The theme of the competition was "roots" and of course all three verses are about my "roots" - my ancestors back in Norway, and Grandparents here in the states. This is gonna help with the publicity for the release on the new album!
RECORDING STARTED ON "LUCKY GIRL"!
WOO HOO! Recording has started on "Lucky Girl"! The band is killin it and I'm singing the best I've sung in my life. It is so fun, and so exciting to hear the songs with a full band for the first time. I can't wait for you to hear it! We are cutting the tunes at Skinny Elephant, with Dylan Aldredge at the controls. Also, I'm singing into a really cool vintage microphone. What a trip!
Claudia featured in new Nashville magazine!
Claudia just did an interview and was a feature story for 372WN magazine in Nashviile. It was an interview on what it is like to be a songwriter in Music City. They did a whole series on different kinds of songwriters, with Claudia interviewed for the "singer/songwriter" indy artist.
THE KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN WAS A SUCCESS!
This was Claudia's first attempt at a crowdfunding campaign. It was really hard work, but also very exciting, and very emotional. To have that kind of support for your art is extremely validating! Now with the money raised, what is REALLY exciting is the recording she is going to get to do!
CLAUDIA HAS CREATED A CHILDREN'S SHOW!
"Time Tested Tales Told in Tunes", is the name Claudia has given to the series of Children's musicals she is writing.. She is taking wonderful old fairy tales, and putting them to music, while also weaving in "life lessons" into them. The first musical she has completed is "Little Red Riding Hood". You can listen to it by clicking on the "Claudia's Children's show" under the "About" navigation tab.
FUNNY FEMALES OF FOLK BREAK ATTENDANCE RECORD!
What a show it was at the Vail Theatre of the Arts in Tucson, AZ! November 15, 2014 Funny Females of Folk broke the theater's record for the most tickets sold, and had an audience that complained that their jaws hurt from laughing! It was a great night with (left to right) Claudia Nygaard, Cosy Sheridan, Christine Lavin, and Cheryl Wheeler sharing their funniest songs and stories.
